I fixed my copy the best I could in GoldWave and re-muxed the video with that. Also, I found the soundtrack on YouTube and it sound good. Community Collections. A standard edition will be released eventually, presumably without all the non-disc accoutrements. Well, maybe a box. Re: Gamera: The Complete Collection 22 Post by Calvin » Thu Aug 27, am Toho Kingdom have an interview with James Flower I wasn't sure whether to splash the cash on this one but the fear of missing out was getting too much and, to cut a long story short, my copy arrived yesterday!

My first impressions are that this is a great achievement by Arrow and producer James Flower. The packaging of the set, as well as the physical extras, are extremely high quality and its only rivalled in the Blu-Ray era by Criterion's Ingmar Bergman set. I was wary because of the general consensus that the films are of a lower overall quality than their Godzilla counterparts, and the Showa Godzilla films certainly had diminishing returns for me. I've only given the first disc, Gamera: The Giant Monster, a spin so far but was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

I have to agree with everything soundchaser said above, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of them. I've discovered in my background reading that Hideaki Anno directed a documentary about the making of Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris that sadly isn't included in the set, but he would team up with its special effects director Shinji Higuchi for Shin Godzilla nearly two decades later.

In his search for energy, Gamera wreaks havoc over the entire world, and it's up to the scientists, assisted by a young boy with a strange sympathic link to the monster, to put a stop to Gamera's rampage. Gamera escapes from his rocket enclosure and makes his way back to Earth as a giant opal from New Guinea is brought back to Japan. The opal is discovered to have been an egg that births a new monster called Barugon. The creature attacks the city of Osaka by emitting a destructive rainbow ray from his back, along with a freezing spray capable of incapacitating Gamera.

Unusual volcanic activity in Japan awakens Gyaos, a bloodthirsty flying monster with the power to slice things in half with an ultrasonic ray. While scientists and the military scramble to devise a way to stop this new threat, a young boy forms an alliance with Gamera; a monster no one else seems to trust.

As alien invaders plot to conquer the Earth, two Boy Scouts steal a mini-submarine and discover Gamera in their midst. Transported to the alien's spaceship, the Scouts are menaced by the evil inhabitants, including Viras, a squid-like monster that grows to colossal size to battle Gamera.

Two young boys sneak aboard a spaceship and find themselves whisked away to the mysterious planet Terra. There, they encounter Gamera's old foe Gyaos and two female aliens with a taste for human brains. Gamera must save the children and battle the new monster Guiron, whose entire body is a deadly living weapon.
